Brantome with its Abbaye is known as the Venice of the Perigord because it is totally surrounded by its? rivers. The fa?ade of its Benedictine Abbaye on the river front and the stunning church are a definite ?must see?. Visitors are able to visit the famous troglodytes caves and explore a way of life which still exists today in many areas of France.It has a wonderful river with picturesque balconied French town houses bordering it with red geraniums hanging from pots on the balconies. It too has a popular friday market open all year.
You can still see the public bath house next to the river. Some of the houses and shops here are set into caves in the cliff walls and are very cool to browse in in the heat of the summer sun.
